Quiet Morning at the Salute, Venice ( Watercolour on Khadi paper approx 11" x 15")
Inspired by an article and photo by Judi Whitton in an article in the Artist magazine, I wanted to paint the Santa Maria Della Salute in Venice with the light on the building at the same angle as in Judi's article, but with a bigger view. None of the photos I saw on line seemed to suit what I had in mind, so I went onto Google Street View and found that they had done views of venice with one of their cameras attached to the backpack of a hardy soul who walked round Venice. I found a view near the Salute, but the perspective was very distorted, so I did a drawing trying to correct that problem. Then it was on to the watercolour, done on Khadi heavyweight paper.
