Well I think it definitely works Robert a really good painting , looks like two tiny figures down in the bottom near a stream .

Nice

It works very well, lovely feeling of space and fresh air.

Definitely works for me!

Five colours! I’ll say one thing, you’ve mixed some decent greens… Burnt Sienna would have been a useful addition I think - I’m less keen on the dark clouds, a warmer mix I think, hence my suggestion of that additional colour. Its worked to a degree, a focal point of say a patch of sunlight in the distance would I believe pay dividends here. I’ll keep a note of these colours and get the Cryla range, then I’ll see what I can come up with! Oh, and one last thing… ditch the birds, or at least group them rather than scattered.

It’s works Robert, the birds heighten the sense of life.

It has definitely worked Robert. Wonderful painting.

Works very well Robert!

Lovely palette for the hills and yes it looks superb, maybe lighten the clouds slightly although maybe it is overcast on that day? Nice painting using a minimal palette as it worked well Robert, well done!

Thanks for all comments. Alan is always prepared to critique, which, as he knows, I value. He's certainly right about Burnt Sienna being a better bet than Burnt Umber - I should have pinched a bit from my other acrylic paints, though did want to stick to the Graduate range, just to see what they could do. Ditch the birds or group them, though..... I've nothing at all against ditching them, but I don't know that he's right about this: I shall take the matter under advisement....

Nice one Robert, but I am with Alan on the burnt Sienna.

One more thing - I found that burnt Sienna varie more than any other colour across the brands.

The colours work well and the painting has lots of interest

Works for me Robert.

An acrylic painted with minimal palette - white, yellow ochre, ultramarine, primary yellow, and burnt umber, with the veriest basic Daler-Rowney acrylic paints (Graduate range). Just to see what could be done with the minimum of resources - does it work?
