very effective, Robert, I love the looseness and the vitality

Agreed, a lovely piece Robert

A beautiful little painting, love the looseness and the palette, and....I suppose you'll just have to buy more of those boxes to paint on.

Loose but packed with information, a good honest little sketch Robert....really like it.

I didn't recognise this as your style - and what a revelation too. Superb Robert.

I like your loose painterly style Robert. Full of atmosphere. Thanks also for commenting on my recent painting. It was much appreciated.

I much prefer this one as well. The positioning of the boats etc in the large version doesn't work for me. This less tight way of working is definitely the way to go...later on today perhaps?

Louise - yes; I much prefer this one. I had to fight with the bigger one, and it shows; it may grow on me though! It's the difference between alla prima, and a slow building-up; on the whole, I prefer the former - and it's less strain on my back, as well.....

A little sketch on a cigar box lid: study for a larger painting, but I think it's better than the larger painting! Certainly, I like it more - it's much less tight than some of my work has lately become, and I think this is an avenue I shall pursue.
