This is a really lovely painting Robert, the sunlight, the shadows across the path, distant woodland and beautiful greens. What a treat on a cold winter evening!

Having just come to acrylics I like to paint it on thickly with the palette knife or apply it in grand smooth washes. Not sure if I'll ever get anywhere in painting the middle ground (mastering detail that is) which you do so admirably in your work.

Nicely done and dedicated Robert. We see a lot of that indident on BBC South news

Very good Robert and the rat which I've spotted! (hope I'm right and it is Mr rat I see!!)

Really suberb depiction of sunlight through dappled trees and falling on the path. The purples of the distant trees is a nice touch.

Yes I think you will become the Savior of Fence Posts , you ar rather fond of them. I especially like the soft winter trees in the background. Cant find Mr Ratty , Louise must have better eyes than I have,

The rat is there - not immediately visible, as was my intention (I usually make him fairly obvious), but if you were to scour the path a welcome reunion would follow.

Excellent Robert.

Hi Robert, I though I had better take another look on here after an internet neglect! :-) This is a lovely painting with an excellent feel of light on a bright day. It's the kind of footpath many of us would think...."that's like the one I walked down the other weekend!"

Nice and sunny. Inspires hope and makes you feel good.

Looks a beautiful walk, love the trees (their greens) and the posts. The distant colour in the trees gives good depth.

Fabulous painting Robert - makes me want to walk down that lane and gaze across the brightly lit field towards the woods in the distance.

Fabulous work, Robert! Beautifully painted, the depiction of light is superb and I love the brushwork which gives the painting such vibrancy.

Lovely. I can feel the breeze and I would love to know what lies beyond the bend! Foliage is beautifully done

Above comment was for Village Outskirts! But love this one even more

One of these days I shall have an exhibition entitled Fence Posts I Have Immortalized - they seem to crop up in so many of my paintings; true, they are a bit omnipresent in the countryside down South (you get rather nice stone walls further North) but I must try painting a landscape without one. Anyway, this is a composite - partly based on a path in my old home village (which I've painted before) and partly on the old road between Niton and Blackgang (which went under a landslide long ago a bit further on. I've narrowed it a bit, for those who insist on topographical details.) The original was in the collection of my late uncle, Dr Stanley Crooks - and I'd like to dedicate this version to his memory.
