The Old Lifeboat Station, Winter

Sorry that I managed to upload this three times, and hope I've lost no comments in removing the duplicates: the upload function appears to have a considerable glitch - it told me it had timed me out, and try again; so I did; twice - hence the repeats.

Totland and Freshwater Bay were two favourites of mine, although I don’t remember this particular feature… Your choice of palette really works well here, and by dragging some sky colours down into the sea at the top gives a degree of uniformity throughout. I would have dropped in a small dingy near the steps, but that’s me!

Very nicely painted Robert 🙂

Love the texture. The water is very well portrayed.

Lovely work Robert. I like the many colours in the sea, and the fact that you've added people and birds, the yachts in the distance are so simple and well done. (I've mentioned the fault in the uploads before. When I upload on my PC I get the buffering symbol, it takes an age and you get the timed out message. In fact it's uploaded almost instantly. These days I do the upload, get the buffering symbol, then I open another tab on my PC, go to POL and find my pic has uploaded into the gallery. The first tab will still be buffering and will give the timed out message even though the pic has uploaded. This happens every time. It's a glitch that needs sorting.)

What a beautiful painting, love it.

Very good, I like the choice of colours and the figures with the seagulls in the distance.

This is a joy Robert, so much to like.

Lovely tranquil work Robert. We share the same birth year!

A lovely painting Robert, I can feel the fresh air and sunlight! I also get the problem with uploading recently, which times out and says that the problem is not with me but the website. Tedious and very tempting to duplicate, or in your case triplicate!

Yes Robert, uploading is very tedious. I just ignore the ‘time out’ messages now as they upload. I do like that shadow in front of the lifeboat station accentuating the surrounding light. Love how the seagulls and yachts add life to the painting.

A wonderfully fresh painting Robert and you have done a super job of the water. A beautiful scene.

Tessa has already noted that she can feel the fresh air. That's what stood out to me even just looking at the thumbnail in the gallery

Beautiful and so peaceful.

Thanks for all the comments; I did think about adding a small boat, but feared cluttering the foreground. I'm glad Michael Trask recognized the scene, because I did take a few liberties with it - it was painted indoors, from a sketch and photograph; the latter telling me that the former had gone wrong, so I had to re-model it all a bit. Still, all good fun!

Am I to assume that this is taken with your Nikon… colour is rather good and sharp!

This is Terrific, Robert! Such a great mood. So well done!

Alan - yes, new camera deployed, and photographed outside, out of direct sunlight. Conserable improvement.

I recognised this as yours Robert from the palette - the lovely blues always apparent. Lots to look at here.

Just love it Robert.

Love your trees and water!
