A most poignant piece Robert

Interesting drawing, I thought it was charcoal at first, I like it...

It’s a drawing full of feeling and expression.

Powerful piece and story

A lot of emotion in the sketch, lots of detail .

So sorry Robert. A drawing with feeling, love the range of tones and occasional highlight.

Hello Robert. I have been wondering how you are keeping these days and so was very pleased to see a recent comment of your on one of my submissions here. Forgive my 'socialising' in a public forum: I couldn't see any opportunity to send a direct message other than in this way. I trust that you have avoided catching covid 19 - we have evaded it here - and wish you all the best in health and in painting. My life is about to be turned upside down. I am about to begin a new chapter by making a life in Canada with my girlfriend. She lives just below the arctic circle so I shall be swapping cathedrals for frozen oceans, icebergs, northern lights and Polar Bears. But what the heck!

My landlady, Pat, died on June 8th - aged 89, having suffered a second stroke. She was buried at home - in the grounds of the house. The grave is marked by a stump of an old tree, and this is my impression of it, in conté crayon. I may paint it, but - this will be my personal memorial, I think.
