Coloured pencil and posca pen. As I wasn't very happy with my CP work ( flare up with an arthritic hand) I decided to play around with the background as it didn't matter if it failed. I wasn't very adventurous and just used posca pens in the end. Not sure if it works! I might try this again but in soft/pencil pastels. Ref- my daughters photo of her friends dog.
