Didn't see the original, but like this. However, it's a bit difficult to judge a copy, especially in another medium.. Like the distant blues against the quite strong greens. Works well.

Good try. Your distant trees are not quite as subdued as in the original but it works well. I particularly like the ground either side of the path; really well done. The sheep, however tend to disappear a bit. Maybe a slightly darker colour behind or under them would bring them out more?

Lovely interpretation, I like the foreground trees and path. I really would like to try out this demo one day.

Thank you Robert, Diana and Lorraine. As soon as I saw it on the screen I knew I hadn't knocked back the distant trees far enough and I think the sheep should be slightly bigger and I'll try your suggestion Diana and darken the area around them more. Thanks again.

How lovely to see you back in the saddle so to speak. Your painting immediately caught my eye Val. Wonderful colours. Love your treatment with the pastel such good technique in the foreground, love it. This could be an oil painting. Very well done. You haven't lost the knack! PS I now get the artist I think I have made a mistake - not as good as Leisure Painter and I missed the articled by Joe!

It isn't feeble, beautiful colours with your own paint handwriting. It's lovely.

Thank you Colleen and Jeannette. Jeannette, I get the Artist also but I made a point of searching out LP particularly beacause of Joe's demo, I'd give my right arm to be able to paint like him. ( Well maybe my left !!! )

I have come back here to see if I have missed anything. Don't think so? Your latest comment on my Nude made me Laugh out Loud. It's not me either I may be slim certain things are not in the right place any more, if you know what I mean! I was completely lost in that painting. I shall get around to changing a few things soon. I am in the middle of a mixed media thing. |'ts getting of my nerves. Have you noticed the police are out in force again on POL?

Joe Hush's demo in Decembers LP only I tried it in pastel as I can't cope with acrylic very well ! Tried to keep it loose and had an enjoyable afternoon doing it, just hope Mr. Hush will forgive my feeble attempts !!

I am a self taught artist or, as I like to say, I'm "unrestricted by formal teaching" which probably explains my mish mash of styles. I paint in most media, watercolour, gouache, oil, coloured pencil and my favourite, soft pastels. I'm inspired by the Scottish landscape, nature and animals and…
