Artificial Intelligence - A horror story.

Well mankind is slowly killing all of God's creatures as they say! So perhaps this is to be our own fate. Praying for a circuit too break before we are deleted.! Anyway before that happens I will hopefully keep being entertained by your marvelous artwork and humour Lewis.👃😊

Good one, Lewis - not sure where AI will take us!

Grimm fairy tales looks like it’s a grim future for mankind . Man has very rarely taken the sensible path but let’s hope for the future generations that they do. Great artwork Lew and definitely right to post it.

That’s a scary scenario Lewis, but at least there’s humour in your artwork. Love those bursting buttons on Fat Cat’s jacket!

A very good observation and drawings Lewis

Well thought out and drawn Lewis. I believe nature has a way of working things out. We may or may not be part of that solution

Love it Lewis.

Once you have seen Donald Trump in the first panel you can't unsay him. maybe he is controlled by AI.

Well done but hard hitting thought behind the story, Where will we be in 50yr ?.

Very thought provoking Lewis. It is concerning where AI will take us. Your drawings are spot on.

Brilliant drawings Lewis, but a little worrying all the same. Will we ever be satisfied with things the way they are. I was also born in 1940 and must say that despite all the good things that have been introduced during that time, the human race generally, considering all the conflict in the world, doesn't seem any happier. Perhaps AI may change that. Your art work goes some way to making this a happier place Lewis, keep at it.

Thanks for your comments. This is a troubling subject, and we don't really know how far they've got with it. I don't like the idea of machines making decisions about or for humans...maybe they do already for all I know. The Post Office scandal comes to mine, where the PO management wrongly accused hundreds of local Post Office managers of fraud because 'that's what their duff computers told them'. And they wouldn't accept any argument. George, we're the same age, I like to think if the worst happens in the future, we probably won't care. It's the younger people I worry about. Too depressing. I'll stay away from this subject in future.

Nailed it in one Lew. "Many a true word"..etc.

The Horizon scandal isn't a good example here as it was caused by human error (like most if not all 'computer' problems) so let's put the blame where it needs to be placed.

Yes, you're right Martin, the Horizon (Post Office scandal) is not an example of AI. It was people accepting what a flawed computer system was telling them, and refusing to budge from that viewpoint until another investigation found it 'unsafe'. I'm not a techy, but feel uneasy when things like this happen...AI may be worse, or it may be a boon. Who knows?

'What is the world coming to?' Heard this said a lot over the years but never more apt toady I feel. I fear for my grandchildren but am pleased that I won't be around to witness the end result of all the madness.

Not a lot to say after the succinct reply's. I do find the thought of it very scary. The Trumpalike is brilliant. Technology is taking over the world ,even just our phones,. Any waiting room , any kid on its way to school even the riders on horses riding by have their heads down looking at their phones . We live in such a beautiful world . No one looks any more. Like the other golden oldies on here I will be glad not to see the outcome.

For my sins I've been involved in AI since 1982, and the current level of fear-mongering in the media is something else. Yes, AI is starting to show some useful level of performance, but is actually quite 'dumb' (the outputs are superficially plausible, which gives the impression they're cleverer than they appear). I don't worry about the prospect of these things somehow taking over, but rather than they will make it easier for spammers, harder for educational evaluators, and will encourage the uptake of misinformation. Oh, and since they are based on human-generated data (text, images etc), they embody all the biases and stereotypes of humans. If anything, AI represents something all-too-human...

A very fair AI, I agree with it. 🤣

A salutary lesson, Lewis! Great drawing as usual

So true & so effective.

Interesting stuff Lewis, perhaps Mother Nature will eventually press…. Control+Alt+Delete…..and start all over again!

I like your cartoon Lewis, clever and certainly thought provoking, and the responses make interesting reading too.

Humor is often based in truth. This certainly hits the mark. As for me, I don't feel so bad about being near my natural termination, for once.

A very thoughtful portrayal of how our so called progression is becoming a huge threat to humanity. Great message so cleverly created Lewis.

A great illustration and, I think a very true comment. The more robots and AI can do, the less need for mankind. Therefore, if the damage that mankind continues, AI will take over.

Brilliant work

Thanks to all for your feedback on this, especially Martin's input...he knows more about it than us. I suspect by the time AI reaches full flood I will be past caring, for now, I have an old man's distrust of something new that I don't really understand.

So AI is not all bad then! Love the way his toupee has left his head. Brill!

Reality is always worse than fairy-tales - the real trouble with AI though is the humans who exploit and direct it. The idea of a robot removing Mr FatCat is quite appealing.... I had an employer many years ago whose deletion would have been entirely beneficial.... in the end, nature took care of the problem quite satisfactorily: he had a heart attack doing something he shouldn't have done...

Just seen this, really like the humour and the idea behind it. Great drawing.

I'd been reading the stuff about AI on the forum, and thought of four pics I could do. The first was jokey. But this one addresses the subject more fully, and isn't jokey at all. Not sure whether to post it, but I've done it. I won't do the other two. Talk about Grimm's Fairy tales...reality is worse. For once I'm glad I'm 83.

About the Artist
Lewis Cooper

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
