Soft Pastel on Colourfix panel. 24 x 30 cm. Depicts NW shore of the Lake Schiffenen on a late October afternoon which lies between Fribourg and Berne. Sun was flat and cast long ,dark shadows. After initial block-in with chunky pastel strokes, I fixed the underpainting by brushing on methyl alcohol. After it dried I refined the work using Unison, Schminke soft sticks and Faber Castell harder sticks. This studywill serve for a larger 50 x 60 cm oil painting.
