Oil on mdf board. 40 x 30 cm. Depicts the first fingers of sunlight hitting the ramparts of the iconic mountain "Les Dent due Midi", often to be seen in the background of early paintings (e.g. Turner, Calamé) of Chataux Chillion on Lake Geneva . Painted mostly on-site from Chessier from where Ferdinand Hodler painted it some 130 years ago. The final touches were made in the atelier that was much warmer than my early morning perch at Chessier.
