Covered by the Marmalade that song, very well put together Spencer.

The song was written by Paul McCartney and put on the Beatles 1968 album, ‘The Beatles’, also known as the White Album. It was written in Jamaican ska style and appropriated a phrase popularised by Jimmy Scott, a London based Nigerian musician, for the songs title and chorus. Paul began to write the song in Rishikesh, India at a time when reggae was becoming popular in Britain. The character of Desmond in the lyrics was a reference to reggae singer, Desmond Dekker.

I just love it. Great style. Great memory.

Continuing my Beatles theme and following a suggestion or challenge from a group member here is my stained glass style version of that song. My painting encapsulates the whole content of the song and the life story of Desmond and Mollie Jones. Painted in watercolour on A3 300gsm paper. See above for the facts about the song,
