“I’m only sleeping”
This watercolour and soft pastel piece continues my Beatles inspired theme. The song, primarily written in 1966 by John Lennon includes a backwards lead guitar part played by George Harrison, the first time such a technique was used in pop recording. The first draft of Lennon’s lyrics was written on the back of a letter and suggest he was writing about the joys of staying in bed rather than any drug induced euphoria, sometimes read into the lyrics.
