Low Sunshine, New Mills

A "contre jour" painting (looking into the sun) which bleaches everything near the sunlight into a warm glow, it was nice to pitch this against the cool blues of the hills and dark rippling river. I might be tempted to fiddle with the tone of the right hand tree, as it is a little too bright still. We'll see! This is a quiet section of the river Goyt near Furness Vale. Over the ridge is the Peak Forest canal, follow this all the way into Manchester and away...
