The central line down the face is straight by the way, the paper was slightly bent on the easel when I took the photo.

It's a good start for Fiona, I like your shading 😀

A great start Fiona! I look forward to seeing the finished result.

Look forward to seeing you with hair Fiona! Looking good so far.

This is a different take on a "Selfie" . Good luck.

Well, this is going to be interesting..don't worry, you'll be fine :)

It's all about light and shade,so far very good and very promising, Fiona.

Great to see this Fiona and what a good start - well done. We await developments!!

As said. Awaiting the further "postings".

Thanks Linda, a basic start but that’s good for me, not very confident about doing portraits....mine or anyone else’s! Margaret thank you, I hope I make it to a finished result....lol That’s it Tessa, I’ve put my hair on.....lol thanks! Don’t you think it looks like me Tony?! It isn’t anyone in particular, just getting the bits in the right place! Yes, isn’t it Louise...lol. I know I can count on you for encouragement through this trip into the unknown...lol. I’m not sure which ear to wear the earring in....... Thanks Annick, I wish I had your confidence! Hi Carol, got your email. Glad everything went okay for you, I’ll be in touch. I don’t know what next weeks effort will look like.......thank you x

Either ear Fiona so long as it's a pearl earring and I know I'm always very encouraging..lol

Thank you Richard! Lol....I’ll wait to see which is my best side Louise.....the back of my head sounds promising! I will need all the encouragement I can get, as well as Gin supplies, plenty of tissues and a few dozen erasers!

Encouragement yes.. Gin supplies no. I'm not that nice. ..lol

Will fiona, I'm very much looking to see how this turns out... Waiting patiently...

You’re doing well Fiona. With your talent you will be turning the m out wholesale in no time. I do feel that portraits are great for teaching acute observation and capturing the soul of a painting.

Great preliminary studies Fiona watching with enthusiasm

No Gin supplies......that’s very mean Louise, how about Turkish delights?! Yes, me too Alan. I think it could turn out a complete disarrrster darrrrling! Ha ha Carole, that talent word you used is very elusive but I’ll give it my best shot! Thank you for your encouraging comment, appreciate it. Thanks Dennis, I’m thinking that I perhaps shouldn’t have mentioned this self portrait....lol.

I think you did really well Fiona, look forward to seeing the final result

Thanks David!

Judging on all your other stuff, I'm sure you will be fine! This looks like a good start in doing faces. I look forward to seeing your self-portrait in due course (you might even encourage me to do another one - none of the ones I've done so far - not many- have been posted here!!!) Most importantly, enjoy :)

Margaret thank you. I’m finding it very difficult I have to say, not so much the components of the face but getting it to look like me! Lol started the first portrait in oils last Tuesday and I can tell you, it’s scary, something for Halloween.

Charcoal & chalk on sugar paper. First class of the new term last Tuesday and the project ......self portrait! I’ve been dreading this since the tutor mentioned it at the end of last term. A step by step demo of how and where to get the features in the correct place. I didn’t feel I did too bad considering .....good job we are starting with the basics. More charcoal and chalk, plus a mirror for next class! Yikes!
