It not bad in fact it's good, interesting piece Fiona. When using gold use over a dark background usually. The flower head is a beauty of colour.

It's still a great effect Fiona. I prefer this style than precise style.

Do you know what fiona it sort of ages the piece like an old parchment.. You may have stumbled upon a whole new style here... Ps.. Where's the orange?...

John, Michael, Alan...thank you, you are very kind and generous. Alan, I had another disaster yesterday, I had intended to blow your socks off with my use of orange! It was a perfect subject of an autumnal woodland scene with the bracken turning orange, in acrylic, with the Indian ink relief technique on canvas board. Let me warn you, if you were of a mind to try this....don't! Indian ink doesn't stick to canvas board...what a mess! I'll think of another way to astound you with my inventive use of orange! lol Thanks again.

I can imagine that framed on a white wall in some reception area going down very well, Fiona. It apealled to me right off...

Well I think it did work. Not sure why you think it didn't. I liked it straight away.

Well, you live and learn, eh...? I think in fact it's worked quite well given the circumstances, but it's not what you wanted to do, I realize.

I can't wait to see your next piece.... I'll put elastic band on my socks to give me a chance.. Lol...

Thank you Jim! Thanks very much Shirley, I think I expected it stand out more Shirley and it's turned out a bit dull....can't believe I've said that, because I quite like dull. lol Isn't that just the thing with art Robert, you're learning all the time. Thank you for your comment. Make sure they are good and strong Alan!!lol

I think this turned out very well, Fiona. Maybe unexpected to you but I think it is fabulous!

Didn't work? Well it did for me.......it's very attractive, Fiona. I've got socks on, I'm ready, bring it on!

It works for me too. Now - I'll wait for the orange!

Many thanks Mia, Ann and Sandra for your comments, much appreciated. I'm getting myself in to hot water here, with the orange thing......hope I don't disappoint! lol

It DID work what's up wi yer! It is so striking Fiona. I love it.

Lol Carole......I should have done it with the black background, the flower head would have stood out better. I'll do better next time...ha ha. Thanks Carole!

It's so frustrating when things don't turn out as hoped, happens a lot with my experiments :) but this is still an attractive piece of work, that flower head is so vibrant.

I think it is terrific Fiona, nothing ventured nothing gained as they say, you are very brave to try

It's lovely and lively Fiona, I like the brightness in it.

Thanks Val! I'm fairly happy with the flower head, just the background that I'm disappointed with. Many thanks David and Margaret....a lesson learnt.

What do you mean it didn't work? Of course in your mind's eye it's not right, but as a painting it's splendid.

Gudrun you always say the right thing.....thank you very much.

One of my favourites of your varied and fabulous work, Fiona! Vibrant, lively, love it.

Thank you very much Caroline, I like to have a go at something different...perhaps that's why I never get any good at one thing..lol You're up late! Thanks again

Mixed media...acrylic, acrylic ink and Indian ink. I've had a bottle of gold acrylic ink in the cupboard for quite sometime now, I thought ha ha, I'll have a go at the ink relief but instead of using Indian ink I would use the gold. Did the flower in acrylic and when it was dry, sloshed the gold in ink all over it. When I was about to wipe the ink off, I thought, wait a minute this ink is acrylic ink....can't publish what I said next. Well after a bit of scrubbing some of the ink on top of the acrylic did reluctantly come off but it dried a lot lighter than expected so hasn't got the same effect at all.
