Shaun Amongst the Violets by Fiona Phipps

Nice work Fiona , alas poor Shaun I’d fading away as the squirrels grow stronger.

This good Fiona. An excellent first with 3 primaries. Had you not told us, I wouldn’t have known.

How very sad Fiona. Inventive use of the 3 primary colours. This is a great exercise and makes us stretch to ways of finding new nuances of colour in our subjects. Great result.

Very impressive Fiona those violets are lovely and I love the little touches of light red.

Great idea to remember Shaun 💀. A good idea too with the three primaries

Good idea to use 3 primaries plus white, I might try this idea in acrylic. Good work, except I don't know who Shaun was?!

I'm guessing Shaun the Sheep Trevor. Nice impressionistic style Fiona.

I once looked up what squirrels eat. Turns out anything. Vegetable or meat. Great observational drawing 👌

Yes poor Shaun but great painting. I was a bit confused with the title at first Fiona 😆.

Very interesting piece Fiona

Poor Shaun RIP amongst the pretty violets. Excellent work with just three colours and white Fiona.

Thanks to everyone for your interesting comments!😂 Yes, it was Shaun the sheep…..not a pet but a sheepshead skull I found whilst out walking. I felt sorry for him so took him home.

Shaun has a lovely resting place Fiona.

Thank you very much Sandra.

All the colours hang together so well here. The flowers are lovely.

Thanks Sarah, very kind.

12”x9” three primary + white oil on Arches paper. Shaun has been the subject of a few other still life projects but alas he is a shadow of his former self. The squirrels have taken an odd fancy to him and all that’s left is part of his jaw bone and a few teeth! I’m bereft. It must either be the calcium from the bone/horns or they’ve used it as Dental floss? First still life using the three primary palette.
