Dirty Landscape

Excellent work Fiona , it’s such a shame that big industrial units care built in such beautiful areas .

Well I think it’s a wonderful painting and the limited colours suit it to a T! Sadly I actually like paintings of industrial scenes , though I might not want to live in full view of one. Great sky also.

Well composed Fiona. Harmony in greys, both warm and cool I see.

Impressive and interesting painting Fiona.

Thank you Paul……they have to be built somewhere I suppose but at least the beauty far outshines the industrial here. So do I Tessa, just not very good at painting them! I’m working on an old sailing ship at the moment and it’s trying my patience. Thank you for your comment. John, how lovely to hear from you, I hope you are keeping well. Thank you very much for kind comment. Thanks very much Andrew for your encouraging feedback.

A dramatic industrial painting. The tonal contrast is subtle and effective.

I love this Fiona - great mood.

Carol, Bob.....thank you both very much for commenting.

Bleak but brilliant Fiona

Captures the mood perfectly, Fiona, especially with the very limited palette.

Very well captured Fiona.

Russell, Jenny, Christine... thank you for your supportive comments.

Beautifully painted once again Fiona.

I love the greys Fiona, you have achieved a sense of depth really well with such a limited palette!

Dark and Dowley ...you have caught it well Fiona.

George, Sarah, Sylvia....it's very dreary I know, it matched the weather today....thank you very much for your super comments.

Not an easy subject but you have produced a good result here!

Superb work Fiona. Excellent detail of the industrial sights we see.

Very interesting painting and beautifully done.

Wonderful greys with just that touch of colour. Superb, Fiona.

Dirty landscape - yes! But you have captured a powerful scene here Fiona and I really like it.

Grey it certainly is… however, I prefer greys to bright blue skies. The composition is pretty much horizontal, so you’ve done well by introducing that foreground to break it up a touch. I like it! I would have dropped in a few warmer areas on the horizon, probably those cooling towers as a starter…

Powerfully said and an excellent painting

You’ve captured the bleak harshness of industry. I suspect it was painted with attitude and gritted teeth?

Excellent Fiona, the colours are brilliant.

Smashing industrial painting and a super smog filled sky Fiona.

Stephen, Spencer, Cecilia, Sandra, Shaun, Alan, Heather, Martin, Stephen, Denise…..thank you so much for taking an interest and your generous comments.

Brilliant work Fiona- just love that brooding sky- A really great scene!

You have captured the mood so well Fiona!

Thanks very much Rachel, that’s a pat on the back for the queen of skies. Romila, thank you for your kind comment, appreciated.

A very evocative painting Fiona. The various tones of grey add to the gloomy, industrial landscape.

Thank you very much David, I appreciate your interest and feedback.

This is great Fiona and I really like it in spite of the subject matter; only two colours too! It reminds me a bit of a Lowry industrial scene! Now where's my photo of Port Talbot Steelworks? 🤔

Yes, have a go at the steel works Karen.....thank you for your lovely comment.

Brilliantly portrayed Fiona, I find industrial scenes very interesting.

Grangemouth might be depressing but your painting isn't Fiona, you've made the place look almost attractive. A brilliant bit of work. I've often thought that those chimneys and buidings would make a great abstract but I've not got the bravery or skill necessary to tackle it!

I think this is very good Fiona. Really like the colour pallette (never know how to spell that!). You have portrayed the refinery really well. The sky, the water and the rail/posts in foreground are all done very effectively too.

Carole, Val, Diane…..thank you very much ladies for you kind words.

I love this - it has real atmosphere. All those greys are very calming.

Thank you Bobbie, glad you like it.

16”x12” oil on board. A wet grey afternoon seems fitting to do this grey landscape. Grangemouth refinery on the Firth of Fourth, from a photograph taken from Culross on the opposite bank. It’s quite depressing! Only used two main colours plus white…..transparent red oxide and ultra marine blue (deep) with a dab of cad red on the life belt. I think you would need more than a life belt to save you from whatever is in that water.
