Beautifully done!Love the colours!!

This is fantastic Fiona, I'm sure Alan as well as your good self are very pleased with the outcome.

Very good study Fiona - and definitely got your style written all over it!

Lovely work, Fiona -after the Master but pure Phipps

Lovely colours, Fiona. A super landscape!

It’s encouraging to know that something I’ve demonstrated in the magazine has been useful! Great job here Fiona, that splash of vibrant red was needed, although you’ve been a bit cautious with it, absolutely understand your concerns.

David, thank you very much. Russell I’m glad I had a go but I didn’t feel totally comfortable with the subject…lol Thanks Pastor, very kind. Many thanks for your feedback Sarah…..appreciated. Lol…..thanks Willie, pleased there is a bit of me in there. Thank you very much Shirley, not up to your fabulous sunsets! Thanks Alan. I was timid with my use of red, yes…..lol. Thanks for the opportunity to have a go.

Well that was a good inspire Fiona, it's super.

Nice one!

A beautiful painting Fiona and I agree the colours are lovely

Lovely Fiona, great palette.

And it’s done with your obvious style, not a copy of Alan’s, which is great! Loads of movement!

Excellent painting Fiona it certainly has your mark on it .

Sylvia, Emma, Heather, Anne, Cheryl, Spencer, Denise, Marjorie, Paul….thank you all, for your continued feedback and support when I try something I’m not confident with.

very dramatic - like it a lot

Bold and confident. Love it.

You WERE careful with the red, but I can understand why, entirely! What I find interesting about the painting, among other things, is that spot of pure, clear blue in the upper left quadrant - hate to bring things down to individual colours, but might that have been Kings Blue (which I've never used)? It works, I think, very well in the colour context of the painting - it acts like a window into the picture, strongly affecting its balance. Anyway - t'is good, and I'm sure Alan continues to inspire many of us: he must find it as rewarding to be that inspiration as you, for one, have found it to be inspired. Hence, the great value of POL - and the magazines. We are lucky little devils to have them.

What a beauty Fiona!! 👏👏

Andrew, thank you appreciate your comment. Thanks very much Jim, it took me ages to get started and stop thinking about it! Robert, to be honest, I was scared to death of that red! Yes it’s Kings Blue light, Old Holland……treat yourself. We are indeed lucky to share our experiences, successes and, not to forget, the disasters darling with our arty friends. Thank you Robert. Thanks Rachel, you are very kind. I’m still not comfortable with the subject, I will sit back and admire your courage and commitment in capturing this beautiful spectacle.

Great painting- I love the energy and colour in this work Fiona.

Lovely! So atmospheric and packed with movement.

Love it, Fiona. That sky is gorgeous.

Beautiful Fiona, love the colours in the sky.

This is lovely Fiona, and I don’t think you have gone overboard (tempting with glorious sunsets!) but retained subtlety. That could be kings blue which I used to use quite a lot, one of my favourite colours.

Thanks very much Shaun, wish I were as confident using colour as you are. You are very kind Judith, thank you. Many thanks Ellen, appreciate your comment. Thanks Val…..I was quite timid in the range and depth of colour. Yes it is Kings Blue Tessa, a new addition to my colour stable! Lovely colour. Thank you for your appreciation, I’m very grateful for your feedback.

Many thanks Simon, appreciate your kind comment.

20”x16” oil on canvas. I’ve never been very confident about tackling sunsets/sunrise’s, but after reading Alan’s feature on sunsets in The Artist mag, I wanted to give it a try. A made up scene which is painted over an old abstract painting which had a predominantly heavy background of transparent red oxide which is showing through in areas. The palette I used was….T. White, UMarine (deep), Kings blue (light), B. Umber, Vermilion (extra) and Cad. Yellow (pale)
