Oak Moss on Alder Tree.

Comments

I like this very much Fiona, I think you must have more patience than me ,I guess it was very time consuming.

Super study Fiona and very well drawn if I may say so.

Thank you Chris, it took me about two hours. To be honest I’m not very patient and I don’t normally do detail either but these old trees are irresistible. Once I start, I get lost in the shapes and textures. Many thanks Willie, you are very kind to say so.

This is amazing Fiona. Such detail and a subject very dear to my heart - anything to do with trees always does it for me.

I also love textures and stuff on bark, really interesting Fiona and incredible detail!

Superb drawing Fiona. I also love that kind of subject, old trees, moss, bark, decay etc.

Beautifully drawn, Fiona.

Superb. I can understand you getting carried away with the detail, something I also normally avoid. These trees are stunning. Nature is stunning in fact if you really look.

These old trees have an immense attraction for us...excellent drawing, Fiona.

Excellent drawing Fiona

Brilliant! So many interesting shapes and textures beautifully rendered.

Absolutely brilliant Fiona. The detail is amazing and done beautifully.

Wow, this is a good drawing Fiona. I love all trees as well but haven't the patience to draw them like this!

Lovely sketch, Fiona! Trees and their lichen are endlessly fascinating, especially at this time of year when you can see their ‘bare bones’ so clearly.

Sorry, Fiona, didn’t mean to call it a sketch when so much work has obviously gone into it!

You caught the different structures excellently, Fiona. I like it!

Many thanks to you all for your very kind comments on my drawing. Although I like to paint loosely, once in a while I get the urge to sit down and concentrate....not very often mind. Michael, that’s a good idea....lol. I’ve already done a couple in this fashion. That’s okay Jenny, don’t worry it can be either....lol.

Lovely work!!

Thanks very much Linda.

Wow, Fiona! No wonder Frankie appeared after all the detail in this sketch. Fantastic work. Love it!

Lol....thanks Jennifer. It only took me a couple of hours, I did one a few months ago and that took me four hours. I’m usually lucky if I spend 30 minutes on a painting....watercolour that is. No wonder I look so rough! Lol

Pencil in sketchbook. Took a photo of this oak Moss the last time I visited the Moss reserve. Love the shades, tones and marks you find in the bark and Moss on these old trees. Despite the name Oak Moss, it actually grows on quite a few different trees and isn’t a Moss, it’s a lichen. Used as an anti biotic and will produce a lilac/purplish dye.
