I can see E.W.'s influence here Fiona, the white rock face is a very attractive feature.

Very classy Fiona! An odd word to use about a painting but you know what I mean, the colours are kind of smart and, um, classy! I like the white rock face as well.

A really wonderful lesson in recession in a painting. Great restrained use of a limited palette, too, which adds to the cohesive effect. Like Louise, I am very drawn to the white rock face as well as it does a good job of pulling the eye to the background of the painting.

What a superb painting. I agree with everyone about the rock face. I think the best part is the road leading up to the far off building at the end of the road. The shadow detail on the road is superb and really gives the painting depth.

Great piece of work there Fiona.

Beautifully done, Fiona - so bright, spontaneous and atmospheric!

I don't think you need practice Fiona, this has it all, atmosphere, recession and a beautifully soft palette.

Thank you all very much, you have given me confidence to have a go at the landscape across the Cree Estuary from Wigtown harbour. If it turns out okay I'll post it! Thanks again.

Superb work, Fiona, Just what we have all come to expect from you these days. Beautiful sky with that subtle pink and, with others above, I, too, love the white cliff face.

Lovely watercolour Fiona, super recession going into the scene

Love this work Fiona! so fresh, spontaneous, really like your colours and fluid brush strokes. Thanks also for commenting on my painting.

Many thanks Lionel your comments always encourage me to do better. If it turns out, my next one should have a cliff of some sort in it! Thank you also Ros and Mark for your support, much appreciated.

Thanks Gudrun!!

Lovely colours and a scene that has a glow about it :)

Thank you very much Sarah

Congats on being chosen for this months gallery of paintings, well deserved.

Your work is very skillful and lovely, Fiona. The gentle palette with sharp contrast just where needed is a delight...reminisicent of John Tookey. One suggestion if I may, perhaps the far trees/bushes (mid-right) would recede further if a bit softer, esp since they are darker also. Greatly enjoy your work....best

Hi Ron, thank you very much for your lovely comment and also for your suggestion. It would make a difference to the depth of the painting I think, I don't know why I didn't spot it, especially as the road takes you right to that spot. Well observed, thank you.

A Lovely watercolour great washes very fresh and loose E W would love it

Thank you very much Cliff, very kind of you to say so.

I've got a landscape scene I want to tackle which has a lot of depth to it and I haven't had much experience of this type of landscape. So, I thought this would be good practice. Arches with Old Holand watercolours Thanks for looking.
