I think this has come out well Fiona, there is a nice feeling of depth from the pale blue of the background hillthrough the stronger tones and warmth of the nearer trees. I think the reflections are ok too. If you are worried by them you could sponge them out and repaint?

Looks good to me, Fiona. It has loads of atmosphere, and the misty background really gives the painting depth. Lovely!

like stephen say .but it always looks dirty after this is fine.all the clours great, just sit on thi hands with them reflections//////// forshorten them and add a litle dark to the foreground water to ballance up.

I love the sky relection.

I like this Fiona -and a good illustration for me of getting the depth and contrasts which I still haven't mastered. It does have a bit of an Alan Owen look about it!!

Nice and soft, harmonious landscape :)

I totally agree with the above comments, Fiona. Lovely atmospheric painting.

Thank you very much for your lovely comments everyone. Stephen, that's what got me into trouble trying to wash some of the reflections out, then I painted them in again.....well, you can see the mess for yourself. Carol, what a lovely thing to say, it looking a bit like one of Alan's, thank you, and you will get the hang of tones and depth, keep practicing.Lol!

A lovely scene Fiona, yes I have walked here too.

Thanks Carole, do you remember where exactly it is?

Nice one Fiona!

Thank you very much Debs!

Lovely palette. I wouldn't know where to start with reflections!

I think I need much more practise at doing them! Thanks for your comment Gudrun.

I like the misty background to this one Fiona and that beautiful blue sky.

A very pretty scene. If you hadn't said anything about the reflections then I wouldn't have noticed them in the way you mean. They look fine to me I have to say. Lovely pastoral feel to the painting and the muted colours help with this look.

Thanks ladies for your lovely comments, I'm still not sure where along Lathkildale it is.

With you adding the fishing platform -- It has to be the scene looking down river from Conksbury bridge --- Beautiful spot --- Great work

Thank you for solving the mystery Charles, yes it is a beautiful spot. I have lots of photo's that I took on the same walk, I might get around to doing some of them. You may have to help me out again Charles, I will have to look my old maps out!!!

Apolgies for title, I know I took the photo whilst walking in lathkildale but which part escapes me......Charles will know. It's a view from a bridge Charles. I feel I played about too much with the reflections, so made a mess of them, hence ruined the whole painting. Arches 12"x16" Old Holland watercolours. Thank for looking.
