Lovely sketch Fiona, well done. It looks like a fairly quick sketch (hope I'm right here :) and the resulting spontaneous image is very effective. I especially like the buildings on the right and those tricky gondolas look good! I honestly thought that everyone had a Venice painting. Come to think of it, most have a poppy picture in their collection as well :) Do you? !!

Hi Louise, yes a fairly quick sketch, about 20 minutes. It was too cold to sit in my painting room to do a full watercolour, so sat by the fire and did this instead! Re: poppy picture, I have a very dubious poppy field picture in my gallery. Thanks for taking the time to comment Louise.

I don't know how many times I've been to Venice so I was immediately attracted to your pen and wash picture. In a few deft strokes you have captured the spirit of LA Serenissima.
