A charming painting, like it !!

Good one ... and I like the beards too!

I also like the beards- and the way the men are standing. Very good.

A record of a past skill, but I believe becoming fashionable again. Super watercolour Paul.

Good watercolour and and interesting subject and composition!

Many thank everyone for your kind comments. It is becoming popular again Fiona , I worked on several walls and taught quite a few people how to repair and build the walls , they should outlast me by many many years.

Delightful Paul and the painting has some wonderful colours.

Christine , Stephen and Denise thank you for your comments .

This is appealing to me, Dixie. I appreciate the work and skill that goes into repairing dry stone walls. This is one of my favorite jobs on the farm, these ancient walls need constant repair. Lovely work.

Thank you Carole , it was up there with my other favourite jobs , hedge laying , building wattle fences and coppicing the hazel stools I love every minute of it despite it been hard work, very rewarding .

Great topic as the art is dy8ng out Paul.

Very good Paul, and the beards work very well too!

Thank you both for your comments I appreciate them.

Lots to like in this Paul. I particularly like the drystone wall.

Thank you David I appreciate your comment.

A lot of 'em do have beards - they have competitions in stone-wall laying down here, or certainly used to have. It's a real skill. Talking of real skills, I like the way you've depicted the foreground figure, particularly: the relation of head to shoulder and forearms is right on point.

Thank you Robert , I do struggle with figure something I’m not comfortable with drawing let alone painting.

A4 in A 3 mount watercolour painting of two men repairing a drystone wall . Had this hanging around for ages or so it seems , finally finished it off based on photos taken sone years ago when I worked with the a rangers in the Chilterns. Non had beards but as the faces were not right in my view I added then I’m desperation.

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
