Another good one Paul

Very nice Paul, we see a lot of them where I live too.

It’s great to see them soaring in the sky, nice one Paul

A lovely vista, Paul!

Thank you all for your very kind comments.

Lovely Paul.

Thank you Denise for your comment I appreciate it.

It’s a beautiful scene Paul and very nicely painted. We are even starting to see Kites round my way too - amazing birds.

Sarah and Spencer thank you for you comments I appreciate them.

oh so great Paul, i love this birds!! we've also some kites, i really like them.

Such impressive birds especially close up. You’ve got the sense of the way they waft around very well Dixie. Super scene.

Thank you Tanja, Tessa and Christine for your comment. The kites are becoming a pest in the picnic areas as the swoop and snatch food off of people with a four foot plus wing span it’s quite frightening. My eight year old granddaughter wax scratch by one that snatched her sandwich as she put it to her mouth , she was terrified poor little love . To many people are feeding then and the flocks are getting to big despite being asked not to feed them .

I think this is a lovely painting, love everything about it !!

Good perspective Paul, and I like the Red Kites

Lovely landscape Paul, it's as English as you can get.

Lovely feeling of space and freedom in this one, Paul.

Valerie, Trevor, Lew and Jenny thank you for your comments.

Good landscape Paul and the Kites are very well done.

Of course…lucky you Red Kites lots down there. We get all excited when we see one probably about one a week. Too many game keepers did their worst here. Love those greens Paul.

Thank you George and Sylvia for your kind comments. They are so common here Sylvia that we don’t take that much notice of them anymore , I have actually seen a flock of about forty spiralling down fir food left out by a local cafe , that was until someone was badly hurt.

Lovely, wish we had them here - I remember being so excited as a kid when I first saw them in mid-Wales, it’s good that they’re coming back in many places.

Thank you Emma I appreciate your comment. They are a beautiful looking bird and so graceful for their size , some of the females have between four and five foot wingspan very intimidating when close by .

Watercolour of a photograph taken in south Buck, Oxford countryside last year , I’ve added the Red kites as they are very common locally, as I write I can see seven string overhead in Aylesbury. The difficult bit was the larger of the red kites as I couldn’t get it to look right so ga e up after four attempts as the paper was getting damaged to much . It so easy to forget or rather to ignore our own local scenes, I suppose it just become common place for us.

About the Artist

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
