Always good Paul

Nice one and interesting facts too.

Thank you all for your kind and much appreciated comments.

Lovely gentle palette Paul.

Well done Paul, you can't go wrong with your ship paintings.

A wonderful sky and a well drawn tug boat Paul. I’m less convinced with the three-masted Clipper, it might be that the scale is a touch too small. Nonetheless a fine job sir!

Thank you Carole , Lew and Alan for your comment as always they are appreciated. I take your point about the clipper Alan , I took the shape of it and the tug from a 1901 very grey photo keeping the proportions as the photo displayed. I think the clipper in retrospect could have been at a angle that foreshortened it’s appearance, one of the many downsides of using historical reference photo , I will be more aware of that in future.

Thanks Cheryl I appreciate you comment.

Two great ships Paul -you’re very good at them.

I always love your ship paintings Paul, will look forward to more of the tug series.

Lovely colours and composition Paul

A very pleasing watercolour Paul, of an excellent subject.

Thank you Fiona for your kind comment.

A4 watercolour of a tug towing a sailing ship out to sea to pick up the winds . A common scene in the late 1800s and early 1900s as steam was seen as too unreliable for long sea journeys. Tug were designed to haul the sailing ships out so they were not stranded in docks awaiting a favourable wind . This is one of a series of tug paintings I’m planning over the next couple of months. Quit a quick painting done in two sessions
