Naples yellow does not normally turn green with blue washes. Cottage and Bushes are various strengths of FU + BS, then do BS and NY various washes for foregound and flick some paint on with a toothbrush. All good fun!! Please have a go and let us see your painting.

Idyllic David

Really interesting to read your narrative and what a wonderful result

Thank you Heather

Yes, you can adjust the shape of the cottage with dark bushes behind

What a superb painting - enjoyed reading your narrative also as it gives good insight into your painting method!

A lovely painting and you taking us through the process is excellent.

Gorgeous, David - beautifully painted!

A really charming delicate painting

Gorgeous palette. Will give it a go substituting Naples Yellow with something.

A beautiful example of watercolour used to perfection David!

A superb piece, beautifully atmospheric, with wonderful contrasts of textured and quiet spaces and shapes. Excellent work.

Again Thank you, Carole, Anne, Cecilia, Norrette, Fiona and Seok, your comments are always helpful

Watercolour 10" x 8" just three colours used here, French Ulta, Burnt Sienna and Naples Yellow. This cottage sits below the moutains of Moelwyns. After outline drawing i turned the paper on its side to do the sky (Naples Yellow first, half way down , then french Ultra either side and blending too the NY.) This is done down to the level of the the Burnt Sienna colour. While sky is wet i folded a piece of kitchen towel and dabbed out the shape of the cottage(triangle for gable end)
