I like monochrome paintings very, very much and this is a perfect example of it, David. Very atmospheric with a lot of depth and perspective in it. Beautiful!

Thank you Mia, it is also a nice way to paint a landscape if you are confronted by all those greens!!!! It makes it slightly easier.

Nicely done David you have captured the rock structure very well and also even in monochrome the aerial perspective works so well, like your birds, 3 birds are my signature mark in all my work. Nice one.

Yes funnily enough putting three birds has also been my signature since i first started painting almost 35 years ago as well, although 5 birds some times make it!!!

Great use of blues, like it a lot

Great use of “blues” in a beautiful landscape.

Just a superb piece of work David. Lovely.Clever representation of distance. Birds (usually seagulls)can usually be found as my signature too.

A very atmospheric piece, with lovely tonal work.

Tonally brilliant and beautiful.

Thank you everyone for your very kind comments, happy painting!!

Watercolour. This is a painting making use of tone to capture an image. I used only Winsor Blue (red shade) of different strengths, you can add a touch of Alizarin Crimson to darken the blue. Its a really good exercise working out tones before embarking on a larger colourful painting.
