A lonesome Daffodil

Comments

Stunning,Carole. Love the background colours too!

The daffodil stands out really well Carole. Great colours too.

Many artist who have used watercolour for years would be happy with this painting Carole it’s really good . Just get the brushes out and don’t be uptight about it, you will paint much better and enjoy it more. There is not such thing as a perfect painting, ask any artist and they will point out their mistake, it follows that there is not totally rubbish painting, you just don’t like it that much.

I think you have done this extremely well Carole. Well done you.

It's a lovely painting. There are some very good effects.

There are some lovely effects there. It looks like it was fun to paint.

I think this is lovely Carole - like the back-lit effect. You shouldn't be so hard on your self either - you've done a great job with an unpredictable medium!

Well didn't you have fun , and your technique tips paid off well....super daff...

Like it a lot Carole!

Well I’m rather surprised at your responses as I really thought it was rather undeveloped. Thank you for your very encouraging remarks and Paul, you have given a piece of very valuable advice, not to be uptight. The unpredictability of w/c scares me but what does it matter it’s only paper, if it comes out horrendous I’ve had fun in the process.

Nicely done Carole.

We're all critical of what we do, but this is a fine piece of work.

Well, you've done really well. My attempts fail miserably and I wouldn't dare inflict them on POL!

This has worked well, Carole, you’ve achieved some lovely background effects and the colours are lovely. (Part of the enjoyment of watercolour is its unpredictability, but you can learn to control it!)

Wonderful, love the background Carole.

Thank you so much for all your encouragement I will continue to make other attempts. Good wishes for a Happy Easter Stephen, Lewis, Valerie, Coral, Heather, Jenny and Denise.

Beautiful Carol 😍

This is lovely Carole, I struggle with backgrounds but yours is super.

Thank you so much Val and Faye. Happy Easter.

Beautifully painted. Lovely colours and background 😎

Thanks Carole for reminding to work outside our preferred media; Lots of movement in colour in this lovey watercolor, my friend; love and God bless xxxx

Carole, your lonesome daff shines! It’s surrounded by lovely wet in wet washes, soft and hard edges, crisp lines and gorgeous contrasts……that all adds up to a cracking watercolour.

Creativity involves making mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep. This is a keeper.

Lovely work, beautiful colours

Well these lovely techniques certainly produced a great watercolour.

Thank you very much Barbara, Andrew, Fiona, James, Petra, VL- Irene and Maureen for your lovely kind words. Sorry so late in my reply but have been travelling and I’m away from home. Yes Andrew, it really helps to change mediums and challenge oneself to different sets of problems. I will definitely be trying out more watercolour painting as I have been greatly motivated by your comments. Happy Easter to everyone🌈🌈🌈🌈

Lovely negative space work there. Really makes the daffodil stand out.

Lovely, Carole and I like the harmonius background. Well done -I find watercolour is a bit scary!

As I am so bad at watercolour I decided to do a YouTube tutorial to try to improve my efforts. This is the result. I know it’s very raw and amateurish in the extreme but I had so much fun trying out different techniques that I may even attempt another. On cold press paper 10” x 8”.
