This is rather beautiful Brian, love the light and sky and those birds are a great addition

Thank you very much, Heather, for the thumbs up. Believe it or not the birds were a last minute decision. I originally had a robed cleric, arms outstretched, praying to the moon. Twas a bit twee, I thought. Thanks agai. Bri

Seeing this has made me wish I was there. I can smell the mossy fresh air

Thank you very much, Diana, for the generous response to this painting. Delighted you liked. Bri

I think I remember your other version Brian, also very moody. I love the light on the green.

Thank you very much, Marjorie for the kind reply. The other version, to which you refer, is still in my gallery, I was SO pleased that you remembered it, given the amount of time that has elapsed. All the best Bri

Another superb painting from the Lakes Brian. You've captured the colours and mood of this magical place perfectly.

This is excellent and really well painted.

Wonderfully atmospheric Bri, I really like it.

Thank you very much, Russell, Dixie and Diane, for the great replies to this painting. It's my third in the series, with one of them being set in winter. I might (MIGHT) bring the shadows in to the centre a tad. Haven't, decided yet. Really do appreciate the generous comments. Thanks again Bri

Beautifully atmospheric Brian.

Thank you very much, Carole, for the great comment. I liked "atmospheric". I'm thinking of adding more shade on the left and right to further emphasise the centre. Bri

Lots of mood and sinisterness Brian. I remember the one with snow very well, it was a cracker and so is this. The touch of including the birds adds to the whole mystical atmosphere.

Thank you very much, Fiona, for the "mood" and "sinisterness". That made me smile. I've added a touch more shadow to the borders to further highlight the centre. I'll see if the painting can be edited tomorrow. If not, no harm done. Bri

Oil on canvas 60 x 50cms. After having given the last Castlerigg painting to my sister, I decided to paint this one for myself. The clouds are gathering and the crows, sensing something is afoot, (thanks Sherlock) decide to investigate.
