Not been on for a while so I've missed lots of postings but I'm so glad I didn't miss this, its magnificent Bri. I can feel the cold and smell the clean fresh air, a beautiful painting.

On the contrary Brian, I think your wife will love this painting. 'Really nice snow and mountain, its brilliant!

Fantastic painting Brian

Fantastic Bri. If Diane doesn’t like this, trade her in for a new model! Well maybe that’s a bit harsh but I’m sure she’ll love it.

Thank you very much, Val, Noel, Russell and Tessa, for the wonderful comments. I'm absolutely tickled pink. I must admit I liked this one as soon as it was finished. I started this morning with a blank canvas and was finished by early afternoon. Actually, I painted the figures in later...that's very quick for me. I was so pleased to read that the snow was working, Noel, and that you enjoyed the Matterhorn. Great to read that. "A new model" YES, why didn't I think of that? No, it's just that she's a bit ambivalent about me and my artistic endeavours. Can't blame her, really. *smile* I'm SO pleased you made it back, Val, and delighted you looked in on this effort. Always good to see you, Russell. My best to all and thanks again. Always appreciated. Bri

No she won't! How could anyone hate this. Lovely work Brian.

Thank you very much, Pete, for the kind comments. I hope she does and secretly I think she will. I wrote a poem about her, years ago, and she acted indifferently about it, then proceeded to tell all her friends that there was a poem on the internet that was dedicated to her. Don't worry, I won't post it here. *smile* Bri

She cannot hate this beauty Brian, well done, your wife will be over the moon :)

Superb painting, has the feel that you are trailing along behind.

That looks so cool Brian, literally!

Very effective painting and the figures are tremendous.

Fabulous Brian, can't single anything out just to say I think it's great

Thank you very much indeed, Carole, Dixe and Frank, for the great comments. Always appreciated. I hope you're right Carole. She will, she might, maybe, perhaps, won't she? *smile* I like that observation, Dixie, because it's just how I felt. Honestly! Made me smile, Frank. Cool's the word. Best to all Bri

Ah, we must've cross-posted, Stephen and Heather. Thank you very much for the very kind comments. Much appreciated. I approached the figures with some trepidation, Stephen, but they turned out not so bad. Thanks for mentioning them. Best to both Bri

A triumph. This is a mountain I've actually seen...you've captured the sparkling vivid clarity so well.

Love the solitary figure which exaggerates the isolation and beauty of this beautiful, majestic setting. Your treatment of snow and the footmarks in the snow are extremely good Brian. Thanks for sharing.

It's brilliant, i'm sure your wife will love it !!

My husband and I skied here many years ago, your painting captures the majestic scenery excellently. PS - If your wife doesn't like it I would willingly give it a home!

Thank you very much, Lew, Carole, Linda and Lynn, for the really encouraging comments. Deeply appreciated. Good to know it looks as it should, Lew. Great to read you'd actually been. Carole! There are two figures making the ascent but one almost obscures the other. I'm pleased the footprints are having the desired effect. I'm hoping she will, Linda, but you never know. *smile* Good to know it catches some of the flavour of the place, Lynn. You had me smiling and it was great to read that you'd seen this area first-hand. Best to all Bri

A beautiful thought and gift Brian, and I’m sure she will treasure it. A spectacular view and so clean and fresh, you could almost get dizzy from the atmosphere.

Thank you very much, Dennis and Fiona, for the kind comments. It really does mean a lot to me. Thanks for the "impressive" Dennis. Appreciated. The clean, clear and cold air is always one of those atmospheric facts that never ceases to fascinate me, Fiona. I think it's called aerology, or something along those lines. It's a heady mix. I think she'll like it on the day. Best to both Bri

Superbly captured Brian, wonderful contrast between sky and snow.

Superb painting

Thank you very much, Alan and Romila, for the kind comments. Always appreciated. I'm delighted you liked this one. Bri

What can I say superb. What's not to like!

Thank you very much, June, for the kind comments. Much appreciated. Bri

Oil on canvas, 50 x 40 cms. Wet in wet from start to finish. One year, many moons ago, my wife, Diane, travelled to Zermatt, Switzerland, on a school skiing trip. She still tells me that she could see the Matterhorn from her bedroom window, so I decided to give her this view as a Christmas present. It's finished now so there's time for it to dry before the big day. Bet she hates it!! *lol*
