First class pen and wash.

Now that Alan is right up my street. I just love absolutely everything about it. What you've done with the tones really works well. I just love...sorry gushing now

Stunning work Alan.

An excellent sketch!

Excellent artwork.

Excellent work Alan.

Very attractive work Alan, love the deep tones for shaded areas.

As you say a “cracker “, Ivan spend ages looking into this and letting my mind build a story . Just as you intend few details to set the scene, then it’s up to the viewer .

A lovely atmospheric drawing. You've achieved such a lot with just a handful of colours.

Great sketch as always Alan, always love the black reddish combination really works well.🙏

Good tack, as my late tailor would have put it! Overstating the tonal contrasts - well, you do that deliberately and with forethought: I have a painting in which I overdid it uninentionally - but it still sort of works, going to show that even if they are overdone, a painting works so much better if you can see the tones and they help to define shapes which otherwise get lost in a bland, flat, dull picture. Still wish I'd done it deliberately, but .... well.... didn't, so yah....! Your sketches always work so well - well, the ones you publish do! The combination here of the dusky red-orange, touches of blue, black, chalk (?) highlights work to produce a completely believable scene.

Love your pen and wash sketches. Great subject here.

Lovely economical use of tone and colour and first class detail Alan.

So much to take in Alan. I keep looking at it and I find more and more interesting parts in it. Superb !

I like the strong contrasts you’ve made Alan. Lovely loose image

I love your watercolour and ink sketches, this is one of your best !!

Watercolour wash over ink in toned Stillman & Birn sketchbook. I’ve overstated the tonal values to emphasise the impression of sunlight!
