A cracker Alan , lots of details with a few lines allowing the mind to fill in the rest and tell the story. Interesting that we will all see something a little different.

Great sketch Alan and so effective on the toned paper.

Excellent pen and wash sketch Alan. Really eye-catching on the toned paper.

Aha Barry Docks! A reminder of my childhood in Cardiff when we sometimes watched the banana boats arrive into Barry from the Caribbean, obviously no longer. Good memories and a very good sketch Alan.

Great picture Alan.

Really like how the toned paper provides another dimension.

This is great Alan! The crane is the national bird of Malta [Maltese black humour!!!]

Here's what we mean by avoiding the flat look (see Forum): you have the strong darks, the light lights, the direction in which light hits shown consistently - look and learn!

Great highlights against that toned paper.

Another great sketch.

Some grey and a white stripe and you have a building!? Brilliant Alan. As Robert says, 'Look and learn.'

Perfect tones and great detail Alan.
