In Dry Dock by Alan Bickley

Sounds like a great idea, angle of this is really interesting. We've got a really good boat graveyard near us that i frequently sketch in, you're welcome to some photos!!!

Come down to Yarmouth, Isle of Wight - more boats than you could shake a stick at; or Cowes; even Ryde marina, such as it is - Ryde Harbour, they call it. But there's a boatyard in Yarmouth, one or two in Cowes, AND - you'd be making a return visit to the Isle of Wight. Trebles all round... I like the scale of this, and YOU could probably make up the technical details; but I know you'd prefer to work from life.

Would make a great painting Alan.

It’s a beauty of a sketch Alan , make an excellent painting.

Nice one Alan! Love all the detritus you find around harbours and ship yards.

Agree would make a very good painting Alan

Great detail Love it

Yes, it would make a great painting subject . My dislike of painting boats is a standing joke at my watercolour class . Probably because I find them so difficult 😂

Like the composition. Could imagine a fine painting you’d make from it

Excellent composition Alan, very appealing sketch.

Excellent sketch!

Good subject matter on this Alan. And of course a great sketch too

Pen and wash on Strathmore A4 toned card. I’d need more reference, but I’d love to do an oil painting of a similar subject. I need to find a working boat yard!
