Heroes of the second world war and more brilliant Alan

Another heavy industry of the time Alan and a supporive one to the potteries. The sulphur smog is well depicted in your sky, it must have been hell on earth for the poor people having to live and work amongst it. Your paintings always give that stripped down reality of the time and place. I agree with Dennis, brilliant!

Marvellous work Alan, every picture tells a story!

Fascinating and quite unbelievable stories about days gone by and the men and women who earned their living in awful and dangerous workplaces. Your paintings of Potteries, Alan, are a fine testament and tribute to those people.

A lovely painting Alan :)

Lovely piece Alan I enjoy seeing this series of paintings and this is a lovely one again.

The almost skeleton line drawings against that ominous yellow smog really recreates the suffocating atmosphere. This is an excellent series of paintings Alan.

Very vivid addition to your series Alan, good to record our industrial past, wouldn't like to go back to all those fumes though.

I'm hardly an industrial buff, but I really look forward to each of your paintings in this series, Alan! It's always dynamic, full of vitality and atmosphere. Excellent, excellent work!

You make the colours bounce off each other to such effect - yet another evocative work in this fascinating series

That's a super painting Alan , it's beautifully composed and so evocative

Oil on canvas 24 x 30''. Part of my Potteries series of a bygone era. Arnold Bennett made reference to the yellow choking fumes from these industries, and I have tried to capture this in my painting. I added the two almost 'ghostly' miner's as a testament to all those who perished in tragic accidents at this colliery over the years.
