An Impression of Venice

Well I for one really like this Alan, lovely detail and the reflections on the water is particularly good.

Thanks Paul… I should have said not the stuff of fine detail, but these pens stop you fiddling!

Lovely Alan and I think I'll be getting myself some walnut ink, wonderful colour.

Beautiful work Alan, the ink you have used is sumptuous!

What a great colour and use of a reed pen.

It has worked very well with that home made reed pen, Alan, I think I must have a go!!

Very nice work. I’ve got a few bamboo pens which have the same effect of making you forget about fiddling with detail. I like your ink too.

Thanks guys, much appreciated as always… A word of caution regarding this walnut ink… it isn’t waterproof so worth keeping in mind, for Denise in particular. So when you add a wash, you need to be cautious because it will run… but you can get great effects to work to your advantage.

This is a little beauty 😍

Excellent work.

Superb Alan! A very striking scene done in the Walnut ink. I like using this ink, there are some lovely and surprising effects to be had.

Like the loose approach and the ink is gorgeous. I’ve have to try it!

Thanks for all your positive comments guys… appreciate each one!

This is great, Alan. Very impressive!

Thanks for the tip on Walnut ink. Lovely colour!

Really effective use of the walnut ink and pen Alan .

A very loose interpretation using walnut ink and a home-made reed pen. They aren’t the stuff of detail, but they can give you some expressive mark-making. Arches 300lb HP, 6 x 14in
