Ely Cathedral - an impression in colour by Alan Bickley

This is superb Alan , the addition of colour had really brought it together nicely.

Yes it looks lovely, the colours really sparkle against the ink!

Minimal colour makes a real difference. I’m often tempted to fill every bit of white space with paint, but I like the way you’ve left the foreground mostly unchanged.

Fabulous work Alan and the splash of colour definitely adds impact

Lovely sketch enhanced by the minimal colour.

Love this and especially that the format over 2 pages.

Definitely does Alan

Very attractive.

Very smart Alan. Right amount of colour in exactly the right places…..of course. Like it.

I really like this and can only agree with the comments already made.

It's great Alan, I agree with Janet too regarding the two page format

Love this majestic scene without loads of fussy details Alan.

I love the colours so delicately added.

Lovely sketch Alan - you have captured the complexity of the building so well.

A pleasant subtle difference - beautiful!

So fresh and appealing Alan, beautifully done.

Enjoying your piece in the Artist Alan, look forward to part 2 😊

This is really good and has inspired me to use my sketchbook more.

I posted the mono version of this quick sketch yesterday, I’ve added a splash of watercolour which I think adds a bit more impact as well as interest.
