Alan you have arrested the heat, beauty and the whole Mediterranean feel within this wonderful painting. The rich reds of the buildings and green cypress trees add to the panache of this undeniably, Spanish scene. Love it.

Nice contrast between the strong colour of the town and and the light tones of the distant headland.

Great interpretation - loosely painted with great use of colour- great impact! (Thank for your kind comment re my recent posting).

Lovely atmosphere Alan. I particularly like the understated foreground.

Love the colour mix, Alan, especially the clear blue of the sea and sky - and also the square format.

Absolutely stunning, Alan, shouts heat and Med!!! Love it1

Really striking, Alan. I particularly like the tones in your distant headland and the loose brush work in the foreground.

It's a Mediterranean dreamscape, Alan. I actually really like this particular vantage point but your higher work is also right up there. (pardon the pun) *smile* The colour of the sea is simply glorious, and the heat and light is quite dazzling. Super work! Bri PS I absolutely love this painting. No kidding. B

Where's my sunscreen? Full of the heat and light of the Med Alan, wonderful.

A lovely painting indeed Alan, beautiful blues and shades

Sums up the med Alan.....intense colour and light......fabulous.

I initially sketched out this scene in ink, which I posted a short while ago, just to get the feel for the composition – returning the following day to paint this same glorious vista in oils. Early morning with a warm day in prospect, so some inspiring strong tonal values and shadows to work with. I hope that I’ve managed to capture something of the Mediterranean light and colours. Oil on panel 30 x 30cm. I’ve bought back lots of small sketches from Spain, including Cumbre, and am currently working on a much larger oil in the studio, a higher vantage point and looking down onto the small secluded sandy beach.
