Love the brick barn Alan, and the colours you’ve used for snow and shadows.

Lovely winter scene Alan, the red barn does attract the eye and adds warmth to this chilly scene.

Lovely and, yes, that red barn brings the whole painting together and draws the eye

A terrific piece of painting Alan.

Really lovely Alan, I can almost feel the crunch of the snow as I walk down the lane

The red barn as a focal point works very well in a very atmospheric scenery, Alan. Great colour palette too.

Beautifully done Alan -that tree on the left is a lesson in itself.

Lovely flow and feel to this Alan. Hope the landscape changes soon though. It’s so restricting being stuck indoors.

Lovely flow to this Alan, with perfectly placed focal point.

Lovely composition Alan and the trees have a strong suggestion of a cold wind blowing! Well done.

Love the textures and the feeling of cold and wind. Glad it's over though.

I like the impasto and textural feel, and soft colours, and the energy. The red of the barn balances well with the blue/green in the sky.

This is superb- and really like the textures in the sky Alan and the way youve caught the character of the left hand tree..

Magnificent tree Alan! A wonderful mix of colours and textures.....good one Al.

Another great landscape. Fantastic use of colour.

Super painting and composition Alan

Just to agree with everyone else Alan - your usual high quality interpretation of a winter scene small areas of colour to add another dimension

I predict a different palette soon, Alan.... another beautifully painted snowy scene.

Beautiful Winter scene, great trees Alan.

I keep coming back to this one - everything works together.

This is fabulous Alan!

Brilliant painting Alan.

Another cracker Alan! Beautiful palette and a great composition. I love snow scenes and this is one of them.

Love the palette, composition and subject, Alan! Another cracker. Great position of the red barn too. Just lovely!

Very eye-catching - colours, markings.

Beautiful snowy landscape, lovely choice of colours and the red barn does work a treat

The lane, the pollarded hedge-trees, the lines of distant hedges and the direction lines of the twiggy branches of the left foreground tree all lead the eye to the red barn that sits at the focus of the whole image. Perhaps planned? Or pure artistic instinct? Whatever, it’s a fine picture as we always expect from Alan B.

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments, they’re always appreciated!

Lovely lovely rhythms.

Beautiful work Alan. I’m getting strong urges to get my oils back into action. You are inspiring me.

Still working from sketches and photos taken a week or so ago after a downfall of snow. Just simple trees and fields, but the old brick barn was ideally positioned to act as my focal point. Once again I’ve used a very limited palette on Jackson’s Belle-Arti board, 40 x 50cm.
