I think you have got the balance of atmosphere and detail spot on in this lovely painting Alan. It’s a spot I must visit sometime I think I remember he Australian Artist Herman Pekel doing some paintings there in a dvd.

Another winner Alan.

There's great distance created in your painting Alan, your eye is immediately drawn to the centre of the painting.

Love the sense of space and distance and your handling of that luminous water Alan.

Great atmosphere Alan and the 'suggested detail' is brilliantly achieved.

Another top notch work Alan

What an absolute show stopper this is Alan, beautiful balance and harmony throughout. The left hand bank is mesmerising, I could look at that for hours never mind the rest of the painting....full of interest.

This is fabulous, Alan. It’s as though I’m standing there looking at the movement of the tide. Like Fiona I love the colours of the left hand bank.

Beautiful, all of it!

Glorious painting, Alan, one of your best, and that's saying something. The distance and mood are palpable. I noticed this immediately. Great stuff. Bri

I love this one Alan, just the right amount of detail for me! Beautiful work!

The creek leading the eye into the painting fantastically Alan, beautiful work.

Thanks everyone!, wonderful comments and I'm so pleased that you like it. I've been taking a bit of a break from painting, and trying to get back into it again.

Exceptionally beautiful calm painting , Alan. Love it, but then I love them all!

Great painting, this is not far from where I live, Brilliant painting.

Beautiful colour and composition Alan, you are certainly on form.

40 x 50cm oil on board. Based pretty much on imagination apart from reference for the skyline shapes. The fabulous grade 11 listed ‘Oyster Bay House’ being positioned as the main focal point. I loosely dropped in the Spritsail barges and the small yachts stranded on the mud, keeping them low key in tone, as I did with the small fishing boat in the foreground. As always, trying to capture the atmosphere, leaving detail to a minimum.
