The ray of light you was looking for Alan. Super piece of work.

Excellent composition. That pool of light is brilliant. Great sketch.

This is so atmospheric and I can tell you really enjoyed being outside. Very elegant.

This must have been a rare glimpse of the sun this week Alan, fortunately for us you have caught it brilliantly, lovely early morning light.

Very atmospheric, Alan, with that pool of light against all those blues, and love the touches of pink.

Like your palette Alan and the lovely patches of brightness.

Beautiful, Alan, such simple strong statements and lovely limited palette. Early starts are always worthwhile. Superb

Looking good Alan. Good colour.

Wonderful Alan, and well done for getting up and out there early! Great colours.

Nice work, love the colours.

Beautiful spot of light adds so much drama Alan, a great painting.

Great that you are getting out to paint again Alan, lovely light.

Great mood and atmosphere with this one, Alan. The splash of light is everything. Wonderful. I really like your quick sketches and believe they stand as finished pieces in their own right. Smashing style. Brian

Cheers everyone, I always appreciate your comments. This little sketch hardly warrants such a lovely response, but thanks all the same.

Superb as always Alan.

Love the rich dark colours and that flash of light, wonderful.

Love the depth in this Alan

Excellent work Alan boldly stated and a fine piece of work

Ibolya, Sandra, Georgina and Dermot, thank you for taking the time to comment, appreciated.

Sometimes I really like these studies more than artwork that is 'finished'. This is delightful!

30 x 40cm en-plein-air oil sketch on canvas board, painted a couple of days ago. I made an early start so not a lot of light around hense the slightly muted colours. A ray of light did appear and created a patch of 'sunlight' on the distant fields which always helps. This is the first of two that I painted at the scene that morning, I moved position to another vantage point for the second one. Just my usual rapid and unrefined sketches for posible larger studio work at a later date.
