Excellent recession and lovely foreground Alan. I like these gentler paintings very much.

I like Marjorie's word of 'gentler' to describe this Alan, it is gentle and hushed, as a landscape is after a snow fall. Another superb piece of art beautifully executed.

At first reading of your notes for this one Alan, I thought that's an old canvas 1300! Then realised it was the house! Joking apart, this is a lovely work, as has been said, there is a gentle feel to it, very appropriate to the subject, yet another winner.

Very wonderful painting, Dennis, I find it fresh as watercolour.

I love the more subdued colors but there is a sense of vibrancy in the deep reds and the brushstrokes so that it's not boring. Really caught my eye.

Smashing composition with the sweeping bend and your usual pallette

Such a beautiful and serene scene Alan. I love it!

It's so beautiful Alan, I could stare at it all day, I love it :)

I love the softer pastel coloured palette in this Alan, it suits the snowy scene so well. Stunning work.

Love this Alan, a great atmospheric light to it especially like the little red sun. The whole has a good arial perspective .

Lovely atmosphere here Alan , its a quality painting , love it

Like Dennis says a real quality painting of a lovely scene, which seems to be sympathetically painted, gentile.

Thanks again to everyone who commented on this 'rather more gentle' approach, and this is because the church stands in acres of the most tranquil landscape imaginable and this approach was called for.

Don't know it but you are blessed with a smashing view Alan and cleverly shown, just a bit distracted by the errant balloon.

Love the mixing of very expressive colors & contrasting hues.

Oil on canvas, 20 x 24in, built in 1300 AD and remodelled in 1851, this Grade 1 listed building stands in the grounds of Sandon Hall, and was the private chapel of the Earls of Harrowby. A scene close to my home and one which I have painted many times, and also have many old friends that are buried in the churchyard.
