Every one a winner Alan five minutes for a five hundred pounds painting can't be bad

Five minutes well spent! another great addition to the blue challenge.

What an amazing result Alan. Superb! Does this mean I have to do another blue one against the clock, 5 minutes will be pushing it.. There again, I rather feel that it's a very good exercise in showing us what can be done when not planning too much, just putting the paint on the paper. As if instinct takes over.

Great stuff Alan i like quick paintings very much and i like this one . I did two paintings on Monday one took hours and i have now discarded it as rubbish the other took twenty minutes and i much prefered it it was much frsher and vibrant . Well done Alan

Well. thank you all for those comments, and Louise, have a go, the first one I attempted the other day ran over a bit, but the message that I was trying to convey, which I'm not sure if it was clear is 'don't make excuses that you didn't have time to make a quick sketch, you only need a few minutes and it can be the basis of a painting later in the studio'. These little scribbles are invaluable when you're sat wondering what to paint on a cold wet day.

Now that I've switched to my 'Blue Period' I am getting a few comments which I didn't on my last 5 min challenge, so thank you all again. Alan

Gorgeous. Thanks for the gentle nudge ie the time it takes to think about not doing a sketch, one can be done. I'm guilty of that too.

Brilliant Alan! We all approach our art in different ways, I can spend hours planning and researching, so I find these challenges quite liberating!

Two challenges neatly met Alan, five minutes to get the basics down for a future painting, and an excellent example of tonal values....thank you for the lesson! We should make a point of doing more of this kind of work.
Oh, and I won't say, I told you so......lol.

Five minutes!! fantastic.....
