It’s a superb piece Alan , definitely a good choice to leave it here more detail would certainly spoil the look .

Terrific. I’ve said this before, when I look at your paintings like this it makes me want to revisit my old riverside haunts in London. Crammed with the atmosphere of the place.

Like the misty finish - looks like a watercolour, lovely.

Would I have the strength of mind and purpose to leave it at this stage, assuming I could have reached it - probably not; but of course, you're right; you've said what you intended to say, with this wonderful array of soft greys - oddly or otherwise, it puts me in mind of Charles Dickens ... not sure why, but I seem to see Quilp and Scrooge surveying the water, wondering whom they could drown in it... that's the great thing if you can create atmosphere: it allows not only your imagination to play, but others' to make up their own stories. I've been looking at this now for 5 minutes or more, and somehow, the longer you look, the more the image crystallizes - that's not my eyesight, that's your skill.
