The seals are lovely Katy, your sketch has the promise of a nice painting Hilary. That is some place you live in Gillian, bet you could spend hours finding something to draw and paint. Today from me is a study of autumn hedgerow fruits, I love hedgerows and all the plants etc. I find painting the flowers and fruits relaxing and good practice for light fine work, fiddling but fun keeps the eye tuned in and the fingers busy.
Wow, some fab work lately while I’ve been doing not a lot! What an exciting different landscape Gillian. As Dixie said no lack of inspiration there. I’m not going to comment individually because if I scroll back now I’ll lose this! Only to say Alan, lucky lad in Cornwall and some smashing work there. Our art group is normally in Cornwall for this week in September but not on this year of course.  I drove around looking for an inspiring view this afternoon, and found this from and including my car!
Painted my earlier sketch ready for submission as homework for my art class
Thank you for the explanation Gillian, fascinating to read. Hilary, the still life turned out well, it’s a good idea to have a class like that, mine is just turn up, chat, drink tea and get on with your own thing. I would benefit from the discipline. Look forward to seeing the finished painting Paul. What a novel idea Tessa, I like it! Just one more from me from hols, don’t want to scrape the barrel! Then I can look at all my photos and paint something on Thursday when my art class resumes. If it does!? The locals call this stag Albert, or it might be Kevin. Albert has three prongs to his antlers but I couldn’t make it out.
Struggling to get motivated today, the weather’s dull with drizzle in the air.  We went to Porthleven today but far too many people not social distancing so settled for this quick sketch of a Cornish stone wall and the curious succulents that grow there near the hotel.
Like the view from the car Tessa. You should get a good Mark for your homework Hilary maybe even a star ⭐️. Lovely holiday plain tings and sketches from you both Katy and Alan. My offering today is a continuing of the autumn fruit sketch’s, something I’m finding very relax and enjoying doing. Sometimes I can’t concentrate on a big painting so I usually doodle of do one of these study painting , good practice.
Sorry finger trouble,double post.

Ok in preparation for next weeks art class we are drawing in conte crayon and wait for it.... portraits of children, I have never tried so a lot of experiments to look forward to. Katy, Albert the stag just kid of sums up a romantic view of the highlands, really great.  The hedgerow painting is lovely Paul, this is a great subject to while away the hours.  I have been playing with pastel today this is a little sketch of an imaginary old tree with autumn shades.

I have used conte crayons at class occasionally Hilary and they are good for Portraits, so I’m sure you’ll enjoy that, not so sure about the kids, but your landscape works really well. Katy you’ve done some super work from your holiday and real variety. Dixie I like your autumn colours and fruits, looking good. I’ve not been far today as it’s rained most of it here, so this is a little exercise from a photo I took recently of a walk through woods, with brush pens and a sloshing of water!
Sorry for my inactivity! Seem to be a bit preoccupied at the moment! Lots of great work over the past couple of days won’t comment individually as I am bound to miss someone out!  Here’s a sketch with watercolour wash of almonds on the tree. Hundreds of trees here ready to be harvested!
Some excellent work, all sees to be trees etc, but why not great subjects, mine today is the finished painting I did put it on as wip here a few weeks ago. The brown leave at the front of the almost dead beech comes from a branch that sprouted a few months back. It looks like it has been damaged and is now dead. I thought of not including it but decided as it’s a part of the tree to do so.
Trees are always good and lovely to see almonds on yours Gillian!  Dixie yours look really autumnal, colours are changing fast round here.  I popped into art group this morning and found myself drawing one of the other ladies. I was only there for an hour or so but it was lovely to see them and catch up.
