Yes Tessa, much more interesting! The next post is visitors to the Roman tree, bullfinches are my favourite bird and I rarely see them at home. They didn’t stay there long enough to paint so I’ve portrayed them from memory.
Rowan, auto spell, grrr!
Great to see a new contributor Alan, welcome! Great starter too! Never visited Cornwall but that view certainly makes me think I should! Nice to see you back Katy lovely characterful drawings! I love highland cattle! Like your autumnal painting Paul, I think autumn has to be my favourite season when the leaves are vibrant colours!  That’s a great still life drawing Hilary you really are very good! Nice sketch Tessa, must go and look at the Gallery to see the watercolour! We have very strange weather here in Granada, quite cool ( for Spain) and cloudy however it does mean I can take the dog a walk without cooking! Hopefully post something later!
Well Katy , you have come back with a bag full of lovely sketches and paintings. I agree re  the spell check I hate it , doesn’t help much when you are dyslexic, it often changes words I I don’t notice till it’s posted. A quick pen and watercolour wash from me today. I have included two view as I was showing someone the difference to a simple painting by adding a mount.
Thank you Paul, more to come but I won’t hog the forum! I love the car and agree completely about the mounting, hubby used to be a picture framer back in the day. Wish now that we had kept the mount cutter🤔
I have a mount cutter but never really got used to it. The one I’m using to display came from the Range and cost £2, they do make a hell of a difference, I’ve been surprised how a not to good painting changes. But of course nothing is better than a well done pice of artwork to start with.
Nice car Paul see what you mean about a mount! Here is a sketch from this morning’s walk
Today’s sketch from sunny Cornwall.  Might have bit off more than I chew with this one.
Alan I think you have bit and chewed it well, it’s a fine sketch.
Good sketch Gillian, why is it called Badlands? Sounds interesting. Hello Alan, good to have more people on this thread. Love the look of Mullion Cove, great sketch. From me one more from my holiday, the seals that basked every day on a outcrop of rocks across Nedd Loch.
Good morning to all! Welcome Alan, loving the sketches of Mullion Cove.  Frosty mornings will be upon us before  we know it Paul, nice sketch .  Welcome back Katy, what a wealth of lovely sketches, really love the bullfinches such colourful birds. Katy you pipped me to the post on the Badlands question for your sketch Gillian.  I have been a bit lax the last couple of day but had an art class yesterday and we’re concentrating on still life at the moment so mines a sketch of some preserved lemons and rosemary with cinnamon sticks and star anise, this is to be washed with watercolour and then inked for definition. Quite looking forward to progressing this.  We get supplied with the reference photo as its an online class so not a lot of choice in choosing our subjects.

The area where my cave house is the Altiplano de Granada. It was a massive inland lake millions of years ago. The Badlands are  eroded areas unique to this part of Granada. It’s semi-desert and pretty inhospitable but stunning in its own way! There are copious amounts of esparto grass which was harvested for basket making.
