The painting has dimensions 14 inches x 4.5 inches. The media used are watercolour and graphite. Papago Park (Arizona) is a hilly desert park. The setting was viewed within half-an-hour of sunrise. The dry desert air tends to yield clear images. Sunrise images give emphasis to every aspect of the rocks faces. The sparse lines of foliage follow dried up water courses across the desert floor. The wind, and infrequent rains, sculpture the rocks in unique ways tending to soften the contours.
