A great painting, like the colours you have used. The light effect on the snow is great.

Thanks for your comment Paul. Because of the low angle of the sun, every detail is brought into sharp focus. This is true even for distant objects because of the lack of any moisture (causing haze) in the cold winter atmosphere. Because of the ambient light, the reflected colours take on the pinks and blue of the packed snow in the foreground.

Mayo, Yukon Territory (YT) Canada, is at Latitude 63.6° N. and so, in the winter months, twilight dominates, there is no moisture in the cold air and hence distant objects are seen with clarity. Acrylic on paper glued to a wood panel. The picture size is: 27 inches x 17 inches The snow-covered Pine tree on the left foreground of the painting may seem somewhat “stylized”. It is natural for the wind driven snow to form sculptures within and around the trees.
