I love this observational painting Thea, all too typical of today's beach scenes!

Now, this one has made me smile! She has that typical hands on hips stance of someone not wanting to go in the water but just wanting to cool her feet so she can say later on that she went in the sea. Very nice Thea, full of that seaside feeling.

Love these jolly nautical ones they'd make good postcards! Sorry I haven't been around to comment much but everything has calmed down now and I hope to be back 'in the fold' from now on!

Just back from your old stomping grounds near Oban Thea so playing catch up...again! I am right in thinking you once said you lived up there or am I having a senior moment ? LOL You're so good at these sketches Thea, the pen and washes of colour perfectly balanced. A lovely seaside scene.

Jaunty little sketch Thea, well captured moment. This is a lovely area, though I've not been for 20 years, must go back

Pat has nailed it! a lovely jaunty little painting I agree, this works beautifully Thea, a typical beach holiday scene with a hint of the humerous side of uk beach hols about it as well, lovely fresh palette as well

nicely captured thea I like it

Excellent Thea!

Thank you very much Christine, Louise, Debs, Val, Pat, Ros, Carole, Dennis and Fiona for liking my little sketch. Val, I haven't ever lived near Oban, but I am Scottish, born in Prestwick, parents from Edinburgh. I left Scotland as a young child and haven't lived there since. I have had many lovely holidays there, and one in Oban, but in the end the relentless midgies got too much for us. Perhaps I referred to Oban in the past?

Great sketch Thea, so jolly! The lady is determined to stand in the water whatever it takes.

Caught in an instant ! Lovely "full" shapes with the yellow buoy repeating the lady's ! Cheeky !

Hi Thea, sorry, I misremembered (is that a real word?? :) ) a comment you left on a previous Oban painting of mine so, in my defense, I only had a nano-second senior moment not a full blown one. LOL

Great fun! I think that's me :)

(Subtitled - Today The Beach - Tomorrow Weight Watchers?!) I couldn't resist sketching this rather ample lady who was standing in the shallows staring across the estuary. Very quick sketch as she moved after about 30 seconds - wash applied at home. Pen and wash in my sketchbook.

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
