It looks like an oneliner Thea and it's really really lovely!

Well Thea, I'm glad to see that someone else likes drawing castles, It looks a beauty and you have produced a lively and spontaneous sketch.

A complicated scene well simplified. Could be a one liner as Satu says. My eyes started at the left side, moved across and came back along the foliage. Perhaps it almost was without you realising. Sometimes I think that doing the one liners has influenced my own sketching and possibly yours as well. It's a super sketch!

If your sketch book looks like this all the way through your grand kids will have a lovely keep sake!

I love the way you synthesise things Thea

Another delightful sketch Thea, I especially like the foreground; some left white and other parts an assortment of greens.

Thank you very much Satu, Alan, Louise, Linda, Dennis and Fiona for such nice comments. Dennis - I had to look 'synthesise' up - you're too clever for me, lol!

Another lovely spontaneous sketch Thea of a place I know well, it stirred a few memories!

A place redolent with history. You've given it such a fresh take, crisp and full of life and energy. A gorgeous painting, Thea!

Lovely watercolour and obviously a place you are familiar.

Thank you very much, Christine, Seok and Helen - I appreciate your kindness in leaving such nice comments.

Thank you David - yes it is a favourite place of mine and the town of Ludlow is pretty special too.

I like this Thea, it tells the story without frills, I am a lover of sketch books and always kept a sketch diary on my trips in the mountains as well as normal sketch books. I don't know if I could get your really free and loose style having looked at your gallery, it's really good, a real feeling of freedom in the work, nice one.

Hi Thea. I am catching up. Love Ludlow Castle which we visited in 2013 and love your painting too.

I live quite close to Ludlow, so this is my 'local' castle which I have regularly visited since my children were small and now with my grandchildren. A great game of hide and seek can be played in and out of what remains of the castle followed by a nice picnic on the grass in the centre. Just thought I would do a sketch of the castle seen from over the fields.

About the Artist

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
